Aleksandra Kozikowska
Freelance Solicitor
I am a Freelance Solicitor regulated by the UK Solicitors Regulation Authority (registered as Aleksandra Kozikowska SRA number 664936). As a freelance solicitor, I work in my own name (without employees), and I only provide non-reserved legal services directly to my clients.
About Me
ten years working for top-tier contractors
Before qualifying as a solicitor, I spent over ten years working for top-tier contractors and developers on high-specification projects ranging from commercial developments and infrastructure projects to residential construction and renovations. After completing a law degree and qualifying as a solicitor I worked at a law firm and as an in-house lawyer. Being based in the city allowed me to work closely with major clients in the industry, including contractors, developers, architects, engineers, consultants, and subcontractors. I now provide legal advice to businesses and individuals delivering face-to-face and video consultations to clients across the UK on a part-time basis.
As a freelance solicitor, I work in my own name (without employees), and I only provide non-reserved legal services directly to my clients. I am not required to maintain professional indemnity. Accordingly, my clients may not be covered by the SRA minimum terms and conditions of professional indemnity insurance. However, the SRA also maintains a compensation fund for client protection in specific situations.
I am fluent in Polish and English.

FAQ's
After your enquiry is received, I will set up and Initial Consultation. I discuss the matter with you in general terms to check that I can advise you. I will reserve around 15 to 20 minutes for our initial call, and I will not charge for time spent discussing this.
Provided we have agreed that I am able to help you, I then send you a client care letter and my terms of business. The client care letter sets out the main and most important terms, which include the scope of work which I will be proposing to carry out for you, my fee quote and the time I anticipate it will take to complete my work. The terms of business are the more general, standards terms which apply to my services. My fee quotes are valid for a reasonable time, but not more than twenty business days. Once you return the signed client care letter to me, a contract exists between us, and I begin to work on your matter as agreed.
The price of my service is my fee plus any disbursements (if applicable). My standard hourly fee is £250, but I normally work to an agreed estimate. I also charge you for any disbursements which I have incurred on your behalf, if applicable. Examples of disbursements are third party fees, postage and printing.
I communicate closely with you throughout, so that you always know how the matter is progressing.
I normally invoice at the end of a matter; however, I may send you interim invoices if the matter involves a substantial amount of work, or advice over a prolonged period of time. I may charge you an amount on account initially.
